randomgen.pcg64.PCG64.jumped

PCG64.jumped(iter=1)

Returns a new bit generator with the state jumped

The state of the returned bit generator is jumped as-if iter * 210306068529402873165736369884012333109 random numbers have been generated, modulo 2**128.

Parameters:
iter=1

Number of times to jump the state of the bit generator returned

Returns:

bit_generator – New instance of generator jumped iter times

Return type:

PCG64

Notes

The step size is the odd integer closest to 2**128 / phi, where phi is the Golden Ratio, which is also the step of NumPy’s PCG64.jumped. As the step is odd, the state only returns to its starting value after 2**128 jumps.

Changed in version 2.5.0: The step was floor(2**128 / phi), which is divisible by 4, so the jumped state differed from NumPy’s and jumped(2**126) returned the original state.
